Aww, we had our last meet today... D:

I did alright, but not alright enough to make it to our championship meet. High Jump was 4'2" (but I made it the first try!), and somehow I tied for second place, there were like four girls doing it. I tried out shot-put again and made 20'4" (exactly what my brother got at his meet last week D: ).

I wanna bitch about high jump now, so skip if you don't really care:
Last practice we had to do this retarded drill that was supposed to help our turn in our run up. The drill was to sprint in a twelve foot diameter circle ten times for each set, and we did twenty sets. Not only did my ankle feel like snapping, my running shoes broke. D:
Apparently I had put too much stress on the part where the sole connects to the shoe and the stuff that held it together wasn't strong enough T_T... my poor shoes....
So I come home and I ask my mom what we should do, at first she's like 'oh let us go shoppin' but since our family's trademark is being super lazy, we never went. Instead, she brought out my old running shoes which she had been wearing for a while.
So this morning I get up and feel great, except for my ankle of course. I go and eat breakfast, get ready for the meet, look outside and think 'shit no'.
It's raining.
Not enough to cancel the meet, but enough to get everything soaked. XC
So I get on the bus and our team heads out to the school we were going to. I sleep a little, trying not to think about how uncomfortable these sneakers are compared to my dead ones.
Boys start. Boys finish. Girls are up. The asphalt stuff the track is made out of is soaked, and I mean absolutely DRENCHED. I get my mark, do a couple of run-ups and feel ok ('cept for my ankle). All of a sudden my turf toe comes back... And it hurt. So I try to rest for a while, and watch the other (five) girls do their warmups and stuff. One girl runs up to the bar and does her turn and slips. This girl is wearing real spikes by the way, there's no way she should have slipped.
All of a sudden I get batshit scared and test out my shoes by rubbing the soles against the asphalt. The traction is good from side to side, but moving it front to back is so slippery. Now I start to freak out.
Marie , who is our teams best high jumper (out of the girls anyway). Complains of being tired and her legs hurting and stuff (She went to our school's Prom last night, totally understandable) so she scratches. I ask if I can borrow her shoes, because they've got spikes on them, and she's says 'sure, but my feet are kind of big...' I don't really care, cause I think my feet are big too. So I take em.
Now no offense Marie, but your feet are big... I try to live with it but, the shoes don't really support my ankle very well, so I do horrible jumps that somehow get over.



On a funnier note:

1. My mom cleaned my room (somehow), and her reasoning was that "The inside of your room looks the same as the inside of your head" to which I replied "but Mom, my head is round, this room is square!"

2. During the meet, one of my friends and I were poking each other in the gut just to bug each other. After a particularly hard jab in the stomach, I lift my shirt up a little bit to see whether I have a bruise yet or not. Instead, I spot my bellybutton and have a stroke of inspiration: I yell: "OH MY GOD, YOU POKED ME SO HARD I'VE GOT A HOLE IN MY BELLY!!!! D:" It was the best thing ever, I swear to god.
